FabricIQ
The Fabric IQ connector allows Power OMNI agents to use Microsoft Fabric resources through the MCP (Model Context Protocol).
With this connector, agents can query business information using natural language through resources provided by Microsoft Fabric IQ, including:
Data Agent
Power BI Semantic Model
Ontology
The connector creates a bridge between the Power OMNI agent and Fabric resources, allowing the model to use structured data to answer questions, generate analysis, and support users in decision-making processes.
How it works
The Fabric IQ usage flow in Power OMNI:
Create connector
Configures access to the Microsoft Fabric IQ resource.
Select Fabric item
Defines which resource will be used: Data Agent, Semantic Model, or Ontology.
Connect to agent
Makes the connector available for agent usage.
Run queries
The agent uses MCP to query information from Fabric.
The connector can be used directly by the agent.
Using a Toolbox is optional and can be adopted only when there is a need to organize multiple resources, such as connectors, tools, and Skills.
Accessing the Connectors menu
In the Power OMNI Administration Portal:
Creating a Fabric IQ Connector
Connector Type
Select Fabric IQ Connector.
After selecting this option, the specific Microsoft Fabric configuration fields will be displayed.
Project
Select the Microsoft Foundry project where the connector will be created.
Name
Enter a name to identify the connector.
fabric-sales
Sales-related queries
fabric-finance
Financial queries
fabric-customers
Customer information
Description
The description informs the agent when this connector should be used.
A clear description improves the identification of the correct moment to use the tool.
Example:
Queries sales, revenue, and customer information available in Microsoft Fabric.
Avoid generic descriptions:
Fabric Connector
Fabric Item Type
Fabric IQ allows connecting different types of resources.
Data Agent
Data agent created in Microsoft Fabric
Ontology
Fabric entities and relationship structure
Power BI Semantic Model
Power BI semantic model
Connection Configuration
When configuring the connection, there are two options:
Import Existing Connection
Uses a connection previously created in the project.
Recommended when multiple connectors need to share the same configuration.
Create New Connection
Creates a new authentication configuration.
Example:
Authentication Methods
User Entra ID Token
Uses the authenticated user's token from Power OMNI.
This method respects existing access controls configured in Fabric.
OAuth2 (Custom Entra App)
Allows authentication using an application registered in Microsoft Entra.
This option is currently under implementation in Power OMNI.
When available, the following fields will be required:
Tenant ID
Microsoft Entra tenant identifier
Client ID
Registered application identifier
Client Secret
Application secret
Approval Policy
Defines whether an execution using the connector requires approval.
Never (automatic execution)
The agent executes calls automatically.
Always require approval
The user must approve before execution.
Connect the Connector to the Agent
After creating the connector:
The agent can use Fabric IQ whenever it identifies that the request depends on information provided by the connector.
Optional Toolbox Usage
Fabric IQ does not require a Toolbox to work.
A Toolbox can be used when there is a need to organize different resources into a single group.

Current Limitations
Microsoft Fabric IQ is currently in preview.
OAuth2 authentication using a custom Entra application is under implementation in Power OMNI.
Features and behaviors may change during the preview period.
